We should first eliminate any third-party reasons for charging issues:

- Look for the damages to the cable and plug.
- Make sure that you are using an official charger.
- Check if there is dirt or dust in the port.

If you are unable to charge your cell phone, don’t panic! Control your nerves. Here are some ways to help you fix this issue:
Try a different charger
There is a high probability that the issue is with your charger. Check both the adapter and the cable.
If the adapter is detachable, its USB port might be damaged. Try plugging the cable into another adapter or computer. If the adapter is damaged, the phone will charge with the same cable.
Next check the charging cable. A faulty charging cable is one of the most common reasons why your phone won’t charge. They undergo a lot of bending and twisting which may break the wires inside. Test out with another cable to see if the phone charges.
Try another wall socket
It might be possible that there is no fault in your phone and charger. The problem might be in the socket. Try charging the phone from another socket.
Clean and adjust the port
Use toothpick and ethanol to wipe off any dirt particles in the port. Then connect the phone to the charger.
If this doesn’t resolve the issue, there might be a chance that the metal connector tab is slightly displaced. This may prevent a proper connection with the charger. Try adjusting the tab with a toothpick or a pin. Do it very carefully and keenly, so that you don’t damage the phone. Turn the phone back on, and try to charge it.
Switch to an older version of Android / iOS
It could happen: a new update might not be 100% compatible with your device. In this case, stick to the older versions of the operating system and apps.
Change the battery
Consider replacing the battery if it is removable. Batteries have a shelf life and yours might be dead. You can check it yourself. If the battery has released any liquid or is swollen, it means you’ll just need a new one and your phone/tablet will be good as new. Replace the dead battery with a new one of the same model from the same brand. Put the phone to charge and check if the issue is resolved.
