Why is my phone so slow all of a sudden? Why is my internet so slow on my phone? There are times when it happens suddenly, and there are times when it happens gradually. What causes it, and how you can increase the speed of your phone.
We help many customers every day to get the most out of their favorite tech, from diagnosing problems on your phone to resolving them as quickly as possible. Here's what they recommend to help fix slow iPhone and Android devices.

Improving Slow iPhones

Here are a few solutions to try if your iPhone is running slower than usual:

Reset your iPhone

The more RAM you have, the more bits of code from the same app end up in different parts of the memory. A reset cleans out all the data in your RAM, as if you were doing a thorough clean up. According to your iPhone's model, below are the steps to reset it:

  • When the phone shuts down, press and hold the Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
  • Hold these buttons down even after the screen goes blank until the Apple logo appears on the display.
  • After that, you can release the buttons, and your home screen should appear.

Close apps & clear cache

The iPhone may work overtime if more than one app is open at the same time.

  • Double-tap the Home button if you have an iPhone 8 or below.
  • You can close apps by swiping up.
  • You can pause without lifting your finger on devices without home buttons by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
  • You can close an app by holding it and tapping the minus sign.

Restart your iPhone

By restarting the iPhone every now and then, you can clear unnecessary background processes that are hampering performance.

Free some storage

Our phones are always running out of space with all the photos, videos, games, and apps we store on them. They consume CPU resources, fill up memory, and slow your phone down.
Here are some suggestions for freeing up some space: (You might want to backup your data first)

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to see where your memory is going.
If you enable the function "Offload Unused Apps," you can save some space. You can review large attachments and delete anything that you find unnecessary. The memory usage of apps and their last use can be seen as well. You can find Safari under the main Settings menu. From the Safari menu, choose “Clear History and Website Data”.

Lastly, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. It is recommended that you only turn on Location Services for apps you are using at the time.

Improving Slow Android phones

Here are a few solutions to try if your iPhone is running slower than usual:

Clear your Cache

You can resolve many basic issues with your app by clearing its cache if it runs slowly or crashes.

  • In Settings, click Cache.
  • Click on Applications.
  • Click on an app that you use often.
  • Choose the Storage tab.
  • Then, click on the icon that says Clear Cache.
  • You will need to repeat these steps for all your apps.

Clear your Phone Storage

When your phone is cluttered up with too many rarely used apps, its speed will suffer and thus it will eventually slows down your internet speed. Go to Settings > Device Care (depending on your handset, it might be Battery and Device Care) > Storage to see which apps are currently using storage space on your device and delete those you can do without.

Reset your Android Phone

Remove the back of Android phones that have a removable battery, remove the battery, and then replace it. Hold the volume and power buttons down simultaneously with your finger on your screen while the boot-up animation appears on the screen for android phones with a non-removable battery.

Disable Live Wallpaper

You may be wondering why my internet so slow on my phone. Generally, they are also caused by live wallpapers. Although live wallpaper looks nice, it can create a lot of performance issues on your device. Try switching back to a static background if you're experiencing a long delay when switching between apps or when clicking out of an app to return to the home screen.

If after all this your phone or tablet is still unacceptably slow, you might want to try a factory reset (Definitely backup your data first!)
If this didn't help, you might want to consider purchasing a new device.
